I'm searching for a suitable 160mm CPU fan and have considered the NH-D15S and NH-D14 options. I'm curious which one performs better in cooling your CPU, especially since they're quite similar in price locally. I understand the D15 is superior to the D14, but I'm still unsure about the D15S. Let me know!

D15S offers about a 1C improvement over D14, while D15 is 3C better overall. It stands out for RAM clearance, particularly with quad channel MOSFETs (X99, X299, X399) and when positioned further from the first PCI-E slot. If you can find D14 at a lower price, it's worth considering. For future upgrades to X99 or similar models, D15S could provide a better case setup as it doesn't affect all eight DIMM slots.

D15S offers around 1C improvement over D14 and 3C over D15, but stands out for RAM clearance, particularly with quad channel MOSFETs (X99, X299, X399) and positioning further from the first PCI-E port. If you can find a cheaper D14, it's worth considering. For future upgrades to X99 or similar, the D15S could provide a better case setup as it doesn't block all eight DIMM slots.

Is there a chance to install an additional fan on the D15S later?

You can indeed include two fans for a triple fans configuration. However, Noctua removed the second fan because it affects RAM compatibility, and the cost difference between the two fans is significant.

Why is there such a big gap between D15 and D15S? It appears the RAM differences are limited to D15S only, which shouldn't impact performance. There doesn’t seem to be much concern about TDP or other factors.
