B550 remains my main focus, but I'm still considering the X570. My current build problem makes me think about skipping the upcoming CPU line and aiming for a 3700x instead. If the new one helps, I'll wait until next year or so. Just keep the MB count.
Zen 3 will continue using AM4 and can work with B550 or X570 boards after a BIOS update. B450 boards are expected to support it too, though a one-way beta update would remove compatibility with older CPUs from the chipset. You might manage without it if necessary, but I wouldn’t suggest using B450 unless you really need it for an upgrade. The "beta" version is concerning—I’d avoid it unless you’re extremely confident in your technical abilities and ready to handle potential problems. Ultimately, it depends on the board manufacturers; they could choose not to include it, leaving no assurance of regular performance or security updates like with GA releases.
