Newer CPU/MOBO models no longer support bootable drives
Hey everyone, I’m really puzzled by this problem. I upgraded my PC with a new motherboard and CPU (ASUS B660-P D4, i5 12400F), but now I can’t boot into Windows. I keep getting the message that the boot device is inaccessible. In BIOS I see my other SSD listed as a boot option, but only one drive appears there. I tried changing the boot settings from UEFI to legacy and updated the BIOS, but nothing worked. The SSD I’m trying to use doesn’t seem to have any critical issues, so I decided to format it with another computer and create a Windows installation USB. Even after that, my PC still tries to boot from that SSD, and the Windows USB doesn’t recognize any drives. If anyone has any ideas on why this is happening or what I should do next, it would be super helpful! I’m really surprised three drives failed at once—hopefully my new board is okay.
