New window setup struggles with rotating indicators
Motherboard model: ASUS PRIME H610M-A D4-CSM (Version 1603 latest)
CPU: i3-12100F
SSD: Toshiba 256 GB (connected via SATA 1)
RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) @ 3000MHz (PC4-24000)
GPU: XFX RX480 Black Edition 8GB
Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart 500W
Initial setup: I assembled a PC using some outdated components from my gaming rig. It started booting normally and recognized all hardware. When USB is selected, it displays the Asus logo with spinning dots for five seconds before transitioning to a black screen with only spinning dots. I left it running for an hour without any changes. I replaced the CMOS battery, reset the BIOS back to defaults, and tried enabling boot options one at a time.
I've attempted this before. The Asus motherboard branding remains visible even after spinning, and the dots persist despite leaving it for over 30 minutes without any improvement. In the settings, only two choices appear: OS TYPE—Windows UEFI Mode or Other OS Secure Boot Mode—with options Standard or Custom (choosing the latter grants access to the key management section).
Did you create the USB with the Windows Media Creation Tool? The boot order listing "generic" seems unusual. I remember it being something like UEFI Sandisk Windows 10 during installation. The spinning dots likely indicate a compatibility issue between the UEFI format for the installer and your BIOS settings.
The photo shows an ISO file burned onto a flash drive using Rufus. I reinstalled the media creation tool, cleared everything, and performed a fresh installation. The only detected drive is UEFI OS (Jmicron generic). Upon booting, it displays the ASUS logo with spinning dots.
