New to pc gaming
Hi guys, how are you doing? Just checking in, I'm 34 and have been into video games for most of my life. I own a gaming PC from my wife's Christmas gift, but I'm not sure if using a controller is the best way. I want to get comfortable with keyboard and mouse, but I'm finding it hard. Recently, I've had a few strokes and struggle with coordination on my left side. I'm trying to improve and would really appreciate some advice to help me along this journey. I'm currently playing Cod4, CSGO, Raft, and Ark, using a trust gaming mouse and a cheap gaming keyboard called Blackweb. Is it just practice, or are there any tips you can share? Thanks all!
Practice will help you quickly master moving your fingers across the keyboard to reach the keys. For me, I began real PC gaming about a month ago, and at first, I was quite awkward. It simply requires time, often longer than others, particularly if you've spent most of your life playing with a controller.
When I initially played a first-person shooter on PC (quake 3 quite by chance), I spent the first week mostly looking at the ground or roof because I just couldn't understand how it worked.
But if you prefer using a controller, then go for one. That's why PC gaming is so enjoyable. You can choose whatever input method suits you best. Sure, the mouse and keyboard are better for most games, but that shouldn’t prevent you from using a controller. There are many people who play on PC with controllers. In fact, some titles have very poor keyboard/mouse setup and perform much better with a controller.
You might want to consider a gaming mouse with numerous buttons so you can assign most commands or shortcuts to your preferred side. Like this one.
Additionally, there are options such as foot switches for players with disabilities.

There are also devices that simulate movement with forward, reverse, left, and right actions.
You could also experiment with an older title like the original Doom, which can still function well as a modern FPS, especially since its up/down controls don’t matter much there, making it simpler to adapt.
Just search "play Doom online" and visit a site like this.
