I've completed my initial PC setup and pressed the power button. The AIO is starting up and the fans are beginning to spin, but the computer isn’t responding. Initially, I saw red post lights indicating CPU and DRAM status. After re-seating the RAM (both sticks weren’t fully locked) and slightly loosening the CPU cooler pump—something someone else had suggested—I noticed those lights turned off. Now I’m seeing boot and VGA lights, which is confusing. My SN850X is flashing an orange color, the 3080’s RGB are active, and the fans are running. I’m unsure what to do next and would value advice from more experienced builders.
Start by reinserting your graphics card and confirming the power cables are securely connected to both the GPU and PSU. If the problem persists, consider using a different PCIe slot if one is available, as a VGA error typically points to a GPU issue—often caused by loose PSU connections.
It's generally not recommended to daisy chain cables directly into your GPU. Your PSU only provided two PCIe cables, and using a split PCIe 6+2 on a third slot might cause compatibility or performance issues. Consider using a proper expansion setup.
I understand that with certain power supplies and motherboard combinations, daisy chaining PCIe is possible, though it's generally better to purchase an additional PCIe cable for your PSU. Even if daisy chaining works, performance and stability may drop. I recommend trying various cable lengths without daisy chaining to see how it affects your system. You should be alerted by a warning message or a flashing light on the GPU if this is the problem.
