I have been attempting to overclock my i5 6600K for several days.
At first, I used Intel's XTU, but I encountered current limit throttling.
The only advice I found was to adjust the BIOS amp limit or perform overclocking via a software feed with excessive voltage.
I set the BIOS Amp to its maximum of 1000 M Amp and began modifying the BIOS while uninstalling Intel's XTU, but it didn’t work.
I still reached the hard wall of 44 multiplier being the last stable setting.
I tried all voltages from 1,350 to 1,400, but nothing produced results.
My temperatures stay between 59 and 63 Celsius at maximum load.
The most puzzling thing is that the HW Monitor indicates the CPU only draws 1.195 volts under peak load.
I own an MSI Z170A M5, GTX 980 Ti, DDR4 2333? 2x4GB Kingston memory and a cooler similar to Thermalright Le Grand Macho RT but with two fans instead of one.
Am I reaching my limit or am I making a mistake? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. ^-^

Also configure the Platform power cap (watts) to unlimited or the highest possible value.

Also configure the Platform power cap (watts) to unlimited or the highest value.
If your CPU exceeds its specified 95 Watts, the system will prevent further action.

You should also adjust the Platform power limit (watts) to unlimited or as high as possible. If your CPU exceeds its rated 95 Watts, your PC will prevent further adjustments. Thank you very much. It appears to have resolved the issue. Proceeding with further testing for long-term stability! ^-^

Update your bios with Gol into it and reset it to the optimized default settings. Restart the device and return to the bios. Navigate to the Advanced tab, then switch it to Expert mode. Adjust the multiplier according to your overclocking goal, ideally keeping it below 4.5ghz initially. Scroll until you reach Digital all power, then click on Load Line calibration. This setting prevents the CPU voltage from dropping back to stock levels when all cores are active at maximum overclock. Locate a middle value and apply it. Proceed to the CPU voltage adjustment, beginning with around 1.3v and testing stability. Adjust by ±0.05v as needed until consistent performance is achieved. For verification, use tools like OCCT, Realbench, or Prime95 version 26.6 (small fft) to confirm stability.

Urbancamper should update their bios to the optimized default setting, restart the device, and return to the bios. They need to click the Advanced tab, then switch it to Expert mode. Adjust the multiplier according to the desired overclock level, starting below 4.5ghz. Scroll until you reach Digital all power, then look for the Load Line calibration line. This helps maintain stable voltage when using all cores at maximum overclock. Proceed to the CPU voltage settings, begin with around 1.3v and adjust by ±0.05v until stability is achieved. For verification, use testing programs like OCCT, Realbench, or Prime95 version 26.6 (small fft). Urbancamper should run the tests and confirm success.
