New to overclocking
These are my current specifications:
Asus Gtx 1060 with 3gb dual OC, i7 2600k, Corsair 16gb(2x8) at 1600mhz RAM, GA-Z68AP-D3 motherboard with F8 BIOS version, CM hyper 212 evo, 1Tb HDD, 500w power supply.
Operating temperatures: idle around 37°C, full load (prime95) spikes to 75°C occasionally on cores 2 and 3. I plan to overclock the CPU but in BIOS only dynamic Vcore is available, currently set at +0.060, resulting in 1.39V during prime95 with a multiplier of 46. It remains unstable. Also, with a 45 multiplier setting, temperatures rise significantly to around 80°C.
I have both LLC and PLN enabled along with EIST, C3/C6, C1E, and thermal monitoring (or whatever method was used). Anyone can assist me? I’d like a lower Vcore if possible and stable OC.
When temperatures rise, consider cleaning the processor and heat sink, followed by applying fresh thermal paste. It's likely you'll require enhanced cooling, such as an AIO water system with a size of 240-280mm.
When you increase speed, the heat rise follows a linear relationship: 1.2 times the speed equals 1.2x heat. Adding voltage to achieve that speed results in an exponential effect. For example, doubling both speed and voltage leads to a 1.44x increase in heat. Improved cooling allows for higher overclocks. This discussion focuses on heat in watts, not temperature changes.
