New RTX 5090 with white VGA LEDs on B650E-F, no display detected (fans and LEDs functioning)
Hi everyone,
I just put the new RTX 5090 in and haven’t seen any display. My motherboard (ASUS B650E-F) still shows a solid white VGA LED. The GPU fans spin and the LED lights up, but there’s no signal reaching the monitor.
Here are my system details:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9830X (983D)
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5090 AORUS MASTER
Motherboard: ASUS B650E-F (BIOS up to date)
PSU: SuperFlower SF-1000F14XG LEADEX VII GOLD ATX 3.1 (1000W)
RAM: KLEVV DDR5-6000 CL30 32GB
What I’ve tried:
- Re-seated the GPU five times, listening for the PCIe latch click
- Confirmed the 12VHPWR cable is fully connected and tight
- Cleared CMOS by removing the battery four times
- Verified BIOS is current
- Connected monitor directly to the GPU, not the motherboard
Additional notes:
The RTX 3080 and an iGPU from the 983D are working perfectly on this setup. Only the 5090 gives no signal and activates the VGA LED.
My plan is to try the card in a friend’s system soon. Based on what I’ve seen, it looks like the GPU might be faulty (possibly DOA). Before starting an RMA, any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated—maybe something I missed?
Thanks!

For clarity, please mention the BIOS version for your board.
I intend to try the card in a friend’s system with more than 1KW of power available.
Perhaps there’s something I’ve missed?
If you’re using the adapter to supply power to the GPU, consider using a different connection.

Here’s the revised version:
I’m still using the original 12VHPWR cable from my ATX3.1, not the adapter, but I’ll try a different setup just in case.
BIOS version 3222 (dated 2025/03/07) is the latest for the ASUS B650E-F.
I’ll test the card in a friend’s system with a solid PSU and share the outcome.
Update: It turns out the GPU is working perfectly — I was wrong earlier.
I didn’t install it firmly enough or secure the power connector properly.
After reinstalling with proper pressure, everything functioned correctly.
Thanks again for all the advice and support!
