New RAM installation leading to post-BIOS boot stalls
New RAM installation leading to post-BIOS boot stalls
Hey there! I'm just starting this journey with my first post, not fully sure about the usual rules for adding posts. Here’s what I’ve gathered so far: Recently, a friend gifted me two sticks of XPG Corsair 16GB DDR4 2667MHz RAM. My setup already includes four 8GB 2133MHz sticks, and I’m running an ASUS X99-Pro MoBo with an E5-2680 v3 CPU. After installing the new RAM in slots A2 and A4 (marked as DDR4-8 DIMM), my computer occasionally freezes at BIOS and then restarts without a clear cause. In BIOS, all six sticks are listed, but the A2 & A4 slots show only "A-DATA 0GB 2667MHz." This suggests the system detects the RAM but can’t actually connect it. The problem continues even when I swap out the new sticks and reboot with the original setup. I’ve tried turning off and on the PC, powering down and up, removing the CMOS battery, and restarting everything. If you have more details or context, it would really help in figuring this out! Thanks!
