I previously had a 2x8 16GB RAM system with 3000MHz clock, using a CL16 chip, and it worked well with the CPU clock ratio adjusted to 42 across all cores. The setup kept auto with no voltage changes. Now I own a 2x8 16GB 3733 CL19 kit that functions properly but only at 4.2GHz on R5 3600 unless I enable DRAM voltage in auto mode instead of the fixed 1.35. This seems unusual—could indicate an issue with the power supply or voltage configuration.

Higher speed RAM puts more stress on the CPU’s integrated memory controller, and not all controllers perform equally well. Enabling XMP and switching to auto voltage can help, but it may not always be sufficient.

I turned on XMP, configured DRAM to auto and CPU ratio to 42 with a 4.2GHz clock, but setting the DRAM voltage to auto causes it to boot when I manually change it to 1.35 and it fails.

Are you wondering about the RAM's memory setting when it's set to auto? Have you considered disabling CPU overclocking and turning on XMP? It's interesting to know the auto voltage and the voltage being sent through the IMC.

It functioned well without any CPU overclocking. This suggests your OC might not work reliably at that RAM speed. Keep in mind, higher RAM speeds put more strain on the CPU and can affect stability. Since I'm not a Ryzen user, I haven't adjusted the voltages for Ryzen systems, but for Intel, when you're using fast RAM with an OC, you often need to increase VCCIO and SA voltages again—possibly the same. You might also consider lowering your CPU's clock speed slightly. I recommend looking up specific Ryzen details if possible, though I don’t have one. If it worked without OC, this is likely the problem... fixing it will be more challenging. I wouldn't enable auto voltage adjustment; check hwinfo64 to see the actual voltages being applied. It could be applying too much.
