I purchased a new RAM module (g.skill trident Z 2x8GB, 3600MHz CL18) but it didn’t function properly with my PC. It kept restarting and reported unstable RAM speed. After some investigation, I found my motherboard doesn’t support 3600MHz RAM. Since I needed a compatible board, I upgraded to the ASUS ROG Strix B450 II. However, even with that, the issue persists. When I reinstalled my old RAM (g.skill Ripjaw 2x4GB, 3200MHz CL16), the problem disappeared. Now I’m wondering what caused this—was it faulty RAM? Did I receive a defective kit? Also, I’ve tried running lower speeds for the RAM, but it still doesn’t work. My current specs are: Ryzen 5 2600G, g.skill Trident Z 3600MHz CL18, 2x8GB, Asus ROG Strix B450 II, Kingston SSD 480GB, Cooler Master v550 Gold v2, White.

It doesn<|pad|> a CPU memory controller can't handle that much RAM. Typically, the highest you'd find on 1000 or 2000 series Ryzen chips is around 3200 MHz.

Zen and zen+ experienced poor memory controller performance, causing RAM to not operate at its intended speed. Adjusting timings for 3200MHz or 3000MHz frequencies might help compensate.
