New PC struggles with low FPS in Apex Legends
If it's prebuild again it's very probable to have the same issue of running low.
PL1 provides long-term power, but at 65W it’s insufficient for running games at full capacity, especially those demanding many CPU cores. Consider adjusting affinity as discussed earlier and aim for the e-cores to enter sleep mode so that the majority of the power goes to the larger cores. Additionally, check with the manufacturer if there’s a password or BIOS unlock option available.
Hi, i shared my experience about 2 weeks ago when i got a new HP Omen desktop. I was facing low FPS in games and other issues. I did a clean install of Windows, updated drivers, increased settings for pl1 and pl2, but nothing improved. Temperatures were normal. Apex Legends averaged around 150 FPS, while Warzone was 110 on the lowest settings. I thought it was a faulty system, so i went to Currys to exchange it for a different one—MSI Mag Infinite S3. (It had the same specs but 5060TI 8GB). Still, the GPU performance didn’t change much, and FPS remained the same across all games. The BIOS stayed locked, and i was able to switch pl1 and pl2 using XTU. The RAM was running in XMP mode. Please help, someone can assist! I was hoping for better FPS with my i5 14400F and RTX 4060 HP Omen specs—specs were I7 14700F, DDR5 2x8GB at 5600MHz, RTX 5060, 500W PSU. Not sure about the motherboard, but it was an HP model.
On a side note, which PSU do you prefer? You know the recommendation is 550w for the 5060, and 650w for an OC model. Is the BIOS still up to date according to the most recent HP support site?
It was prebuilt with a 500w platinum plus psu. I don’t have the hp omen since I swapped it for an msi mag s3 infinite, which has the same specs. Still, my average was around 210fps in apex legends using an i5 14400f and rtx 4060. To reach that extra 30fps, I upgraded to an i7 14700f and rtx 5060ti, but even with a 240hz monitor I can’t maintain steady 180fps on better hardware. My bios is up to date, and I’ve tried everything possible—clean Windows install, all drivers updated.
That's correct, sorry for the poor English. The first PC was an HP Omen pre-built, I assumed it was faulty, so I took it back to the shop and swapped it in for an MSI Mag Infinite S3, which had the same specs except for the GPU. Both models had 5060 Ti with 8GB RAM, and both came with a 500W PSU.
