New MSI EZ debug CPU light is illuminated but there is no screen visibility.
Hello there!
Iam here to ask you for some technical advices on an issue im having on my new (and first) pc build.
Here are the specs:
MOBO
: MSI B550 Gaming GEN3
CPU
: Ryzen 5 5600
GPU
: XFX Radeon RX 6600
Memory
: Lexar thor 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz
Storage
: crucial ssd 1tb
PSU
: MSI MAG A660BN
WIFI Module
installed also
Iam encountering permanent red cpu light but fans are spinning and their rgb is on and i have no display at all.
I tried flashing the BIOS with the latest (and also tried some older) version from the MSI Mobo support site, renamed the p60 file into MSI.ROM etc. but nothing seems to happen after the 7-10 minutes the bios takes to upgrade.
I also tried updating it with no components mounted as many people wrote on forums but without at least the cpu mounted the mobo wont turn on, so i tried with only cpu mounted on it.
I even followed a guide on removing CMOS battery to reset bios then flashed it again but nothing, zero display.
With only cpu mounted it gave me a DRAM Red light debug (obv there were no rams!) then i installed a stick of ram and it came back to Red CPU light.
Strange thing is that if i have everything mounted on and i remove all rams the CPU Led stays ON and DRAM wont turn on instead.
I've ran out of debug tries, i tried literally everything i found online.
The thing that makes me crazy is i havent seen a single output display at all and i havent figured out where is the problem.
I'd be glad if you had some advice for me people.
Thanks for your time,
Francesco.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! I would set up the system.
Follow this guide by watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ_HYufEmo4 to flash the BIOS.
It's also recommended to move the processor onto a motherboard with the most recent BIOS version to ensure compatibility.
Which two slots are the RAM modules installed in on the motherboard?
Hi Lutfij,
unfortunately I don't have any other motherboards to test on.
The RAM sticks are in slots 2 and 4, but I've tried swapping them and also used just one stick for the BIOS upgrade.
Now I plan to breadboard the system and give it a try.
However, I believe I'll need to mount the CPU at least, or else the motherboard wouldn't turn on.
I connected just the CPU to the breadboard, which showed a red DRAM light during the BIOS upgrade. After adding RAM sticks, all the LEDs stopped working except the VGA one. I put it back in the case but the RED CPU light stayed on. Could this be due to a connection issue?
THE DECISION WAS MADE BY THE BOARD THAT MANAGES THE FANS AND RGBS, WHO ARRIVED ALREADY WITH THE CASE...
THE BASIC "RESET" PIN INSERTED INTO THE MOBILE BOARD ACTIVATED CPU RED DEBUG AND DISABLED THE DISPLAY...
APPRECIATE YOUR TIME.
