Hello! I’m changing my motherboard from MSI x470 Gaming Plus to ASUS x570 Crosshair Hero. I have some NVMe SSDs—one for the boot drive with Windows 10 and another 1 TB for my games. I’m wondering if I should wipe the data on both drives before moving them to the new motherboard, or if I can just connect everything without erasing anything. Thanks for your help, especially since this is my first upgrade!

They should function properly; consider restarting Windows and reinstalling the motherboard drivers. A fresh installation would be advisable if feasible.

You’d likely only need to wipe the contents of your boot drive, not the SSD itself. The USB drive holds the Windows installation files, so clearing it ensures a fresh start without affecting your data on the SSD.

Check the boot drive, you can redirect the SDD from Steam once the fresh Windows installation is complete on M.2.

Use the Windows 10/11 installation to prepare it for any further steps unless you’re disposing of the drive or similar.
