Hello everyone, I'm getting my PC ready for an upgrade. I have a GTX 2060 with 6GB RAM and a 144Hz 1440p monitor. I'm looking into a new motherboard and CPU. Should I go for the 4th generation Ryzen? Also, does the B550 support both 3rd and 4th generation chips? If it does, maybe I'll get a B550 board and pair it with a Ryzen 5 3600, then move to the next generation in about a year.

Yes b550 can support zen 3 with a bios update, zen 4 will be on a new socket though. Budget for a board? and you could just wait for zen 3 now.

I’m planning to hold off a bit longer than expected—released after October? I was aiming for about £130, and I’m fine without RGB. A 2m² case would suit me, and I’m using the Phanteks Eclipse P300 ATX.

Consider waiting to evaluate the features before purchasing. Buying now might not be the best timing. The B550 A Pro costs about 130 pounds and offers solid performance with 5 phases, 10 4C029N and 10 4C024N. It's a reliable choice overall.
