New Monitor and GPU help
Looking for a fresh monitor, considering ultra-wide options but unsure of the best choice. Right now I'm using a 4GB 960 model with an i5-6600k, 8GB RAM at 2400MHz. I understand I'll need a new GPU—probably something like 1070 or 1080—but I don't want to change my PSU, which is a Corsair CX550.
The CX550 will run smoothly with a GTX1080 and an i5-6600k without issues. Running without overclocking would consume around 345 watts for the GTX1080. If you replace your monitor, the 1080 offers solid 1440p performance while the 1070 is fine for 4K.

JamesSneed shares his experience with the CX550 running a GTX1080 and i5-6600k without issues. He mentions that if you don’t overclock your PC, it would draw around 345 watts with a GTX1080. He also notes that a new monitor would be suitable, with the 1070 offering great 1440p performance and the 1080 providing a solid 4K option. He asks for any recommendations on monitors.
So personal. Monitor size, buget and resolution(1080p, 1440p, or 4K), g-sync? You probably want to decide on those first. Maybe go look at some monitors if you are able to judge the size and resolution.
