New installation turns on but fails to boot BIOS
Hey there, thanks for reaching out. This question keeps popping up, and I'm really struggling to figure it out. I'm a newbie builder, and I've managed to assemble everything and connect it all. When I plug in the power cable and turn on the PC, the motherboard lights up with that static orange glow (which I think is the standard indicator for the board working), the RAM starts up with its RGB lighting, and the fans begin spinning. However, when I try to connect a display, nothing appears, so I'm guessing the BIOS isn't loading properly.
Details:
CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 5 5600
CPU cooler: stock AMD cooler
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-M A WIFI II
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair DDR4 Vengeance RGB PRO Black
Storage: 240GB Kingston A400, 2.5" SSD, SATA III - 6Gb/s, 1TB Seagate BarraCuda ST1000DM010, 3.5" HDD, SATA III - 6Gb/s
GPU: ASUS Radeon RX 6600 DUAL 8GB GDDR6 Ray-Tracing Graphics Card
Power supply: Corsair VS550 (about 3 years old)
Case: Thermaltake Versa H18
Operating system: none – I haven't managed to load the BIOS yet
Monitor: 27" iiyama G2730HSU-B1 Black Hawk
What I've tried so far:
1. Reseated GPU, RAM, CPU
2. Tightened any loose cable connections on the PSU
3. Repeatedly pressed F2 and Del to load BIOS
4. Switched display between HDMI and DisplayPort on the graphics card (no integrated graphics for this CPU)
I've looked online and it *looks* like my motherboard should support the CPU, so I probably don't need to flash the BIOS. Still, I'm not sure what else to check. Please help!
make sure to confirm whether the system is sending any information to the display by connecting to another monitor or HDMI TV.
