New installation – no Wi-Fi or Ethernet support in Windows 11
Hello, I'm trying to figure out what to do next. I've checked some top debugging guides but haven't found a solution. My setup includes a Mag Tomohawk Z790 DDR5 MMO and Windows 11. I connected my Wi-Fi antennas and an Ethernet cable, but nothing worked. After installing Windows 11, I encountered an issue where the install asked me to connect to the internet, but I couldn't. I opened the command prompt and tried using OOBE\BYPASSRNO, which got me in. Now I'm stuck with this part.
They might include some in the bios. Are these bios possibly outdated? MSI released driver updates recently. I came across this issue while using my mag b660m with DDR4. You didn’t mention the motherboard model, though. If it’s the one you’re dealing with, you’ll need the bios update. Using m-flash will require formatting a USB key with FAT format. I purchased the smallest one available at microcenter for a few dollars—just the cheapest, oldest, least reliable USB key you could find. It’s more than sufficient for its purpose. The bios size is actually in megabytes, not gigabytes. Edited December 2, 2022 by Bombastinator
the msi board arrived without any wifi drivers installed, which is unexpected, particularly since it's a brand-new motherboard.
A simple way is to plug in a USB cable from your phone to the PC. Sharing internet through USB is common nowadays, especially with Samsung devices. Windows updates should locate the necessary drivers quickly—probably fast.
