Hey there, I’m gathering all the details you mentioned. You’re working with an Asus TUF b650 Plus paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and a Corsair vengeance 6000t/ms RAM cooler, running on a 1000W PSU. Everything is new, sourced directly from the manufacturer—no refurbished parts. You’re using it as a test setup for troubleshooting, updating BIOS, installing Windows, etc., before putting it in a case or adding a GPU.

After turning it on, you updated the BIOS via a thumb drive, followed the update menu to the EZ Flash utility, and selected the correct file. The system displayed this warning:

> "IMPORTANT NOTICE!!! Please back up Bitlocker recovery key and suspend Bitlocker encryption in the operating system before updating BIOS. To avoid unpredictable situations, please load default settings before updating the BIOS."

You noted this has never been a Windows install update, so you can safely disable Bitlocker now. You’re concerned about what happens if you skip these steps—could it lock your system or encrypt it? You’re also curious whether this message appears on every new build, even without Windows, and how to handle it if someone else has installed it before.

Let me know if you want advice on safely removing Bitlocker or checking for BIOS update compatibility.

Yes, it's possible but unlikely. I've encountered this warning on several brand new systems since TPMs became the default setting with Windows 11. It's a concerning alert, but unless you had Bitlocker activated, it doesn't signal a real issue. The message usually points to the Windows installation rather than your computer itself. If Bitlocker was turned on, you'd boot into Windows and be prompted for a recovery key; without it, you'd need to format the drive and reinstall to make it work. If you didn't enable Bitlocker or install Windows at all, nothing will change.

Hmm, it seems like you didn’t feel the need for that warning. That message could have been harsh—here’s a chance to rethink.
