i7 4770k works well in this game.
i5 4440 performs significantly worse than i7 4770k and much less than i5 8600k

If you're using a 9600k, you're meeting the Metro Exodus requirements. You'll also satisfy them with a 4770k, though that's already standard.

The I5 and i7 names don't really matter. It's just about picking the right CPUs, but they're not very important. Also, avoid buying a 9600k. Go for Zen 2 instead. Spending too much on a CPU upfront isn't wise.
