New GPU - kernel performance at level 41 - Issue persists
Over a long period, I repeatedly encounter the "kernel power 41" issue. Even after updating my system, it remains unresolved. Clean OS still doesn’t fix the problem. New RAM hasn’t helped. Recently, I added the new GPU – 3090 with all fresh drivers, but the error persists. What’s going on with my i7-7100K, 10GB RAM, DDR4 3200 MHz, RTX 3090, 850W?
Upgrade your RAM, adjust Windows 10 settings, ensure all drivers are current, disable fast startup, and attempt a BIOS update.
PC was rebuilt today and is now running at high-performance settings. All drivers have been updated except for Iclue software, which has a recent update (2701) and I'm using 2601. I'm currently updating and removed the old GPU drivers with the 1660TI using DDU, then added the new 3090 and installed all the latest drivers. Everything seems to be in place—remember this kernel version 41 worked well on the 1660TI before, now it should handle the 3090 better.
It doesn’t appear to be a GPU-related issue if a new card is also causing the problem. What actions are you taking during the kernel power issue? Are you playing games? Does your system shut down immediately when it happens? It might be a power supply concern—try testing with another PSU.
It could occur anytime, I was on the download page in MSFS 2020 and it crashed... It happened during startup... XD No clear indication, nothing in the Event Viewer shows anything.
Check for minor issues related to the power supply. Look for consistent patterns in the symptoms. If the issue remains after adjusting the PSU, it’s probably a power supply problem.
The e2fnexpress error relates to an Ethernet adapter issue, possibly a hardware or driver problem. The Eventlog entry just before the kernel-power error typically indicates system warnings or failures, often pointing to memory or power management issues.
It appears the issue happens just before the system starts up on both occasions. I believe the PSU might be the main concern, though faulty RAM or a failing motherboard are also possibilities. Try running a 30-minute stress test on your RAM using OCCT or memtest.
