I really enjoy my Shield TV, it's clearly the top Android box out there.
Because I own the 2015 model, I might sell it and move to the 2019 version. I passed over the 2017 one since, aside from the controller, it was just the same; though I'm starting to feel it's getting outdated, this timing feels ideal for me.
By chance, there are rumors about a stronger switch arriving soon, and a new Shield TV is expected a week later.

They won't be able to proceed. Nintendo developed their own OS with libraries built from the ground up. The only realistic outcome is a HLE with translation APIs, but currently no one is actively pursuing it. Emulation remains in its infancy.
