New Games and Default Options compared to GeForce settings versus your personal configurations
I've observed that recent titles perform better with their standard hardware detection options. Previously, older games required extensive adjustments to achieve satisfactory visuals. Now, many users skip the preset configurations entirely. For NVidia systems, GeForce Experience is available but often underperforms in practice. Using it consistently leads to FPS drops, especially in fast-paced games like GTA V. My experience shows that default settings usually provide smoother 60 FPS performance compared to modified profiles. I'd love to hear others' thoughts on this topic and how they manage game configurations.
I upgraded GeForce Experience on my laptop to test... it seems a GT540m can handle Portal 2 and Civilization V without issues (my laptop shuts down in a corner and shows bluescreen if I run Civilization V at full settings). NOTE: I had to go through optimizing games—adjusting settings only when necessary, using presets for most and tweaking the rest. Then I gradually increased or decreased individual parameters to see how they affected performance. After some adjustments, League of Legends ran smoothly at 1440p with 60fps on a GT640, almost indistinguishable from full settings.
