Hey there! Genshin Impact just dropped for PC, PS4, and mobile, and it’s a solid title. It clearly draws inspiration from Breath of the Wild—think glider mechanics, climbing challenges, stamina management, and stunning cell shader visuals. It’s impressive how high the quality is for a free-to-play game. Here are some quick highlights:
A useful suggestion I noticed was to execute it as an administrator in Windows, which causes it to start quickly. I haven’t tried it myself, just a tip I saw in Discord recently during a launch.
Download speeds seem to have stabilized, currently around 2.5MB/s. Yesterday on mobile, it was slower, roughly 300-500KB/s.
I just downloaded it on my phone, but the speed stayed around 300kbps to 1mbps. It could be the server distance or your internet connection is much faster than mine (which tops out at about 3.2mbps).
I've completed roughly 50 pulls so far and collected one 5-star character Diluc plus around 10 4-star characters or items. One friend received a 5-star character (Diluc) on their first wish. The rest of us were all like... the Play Store just installed the installer, after which it starts downloading from the server.
I'm not aligned with the RNG gods right now. During one of my gacha sessions for Azur Lane, I noticed a 1.2% win rate with a 200 build, which is a bit low. I landed her on my 198th attempt. The calculations suggest around a 95% chance with 191 builds. I also got a second copy at 200 and decided to stop there. Overall, I'm mostly playing for free, but if I enjoy the game, I'd like to support the developers occasionally. I might contribute some money later, though not regularly. I spent more on Azur Lane while working, but I need to keep an eye on my finances now.
Up until now, using the free characters and the complimentary currency hasn't caused any problems in finishing content. It seems the 5-star character isn't necessary right now, making things simpler. It's not too hard to get by without them. I've purchased the Blessing of the Welkin Moon, which instantly gives 300 currency, plus another 2700 for 30 days at $6.99 CAD. Compared to buying 3000 directly for $63 CAD less, it looks like a good deal. Definitely worth it.
