Hello, just a chat. I've been working with the free versions of Unity 4 and Unreal Engine 3 SDK—they're both solid tools. However, I believe UE3 stands out more than Unity 4 because it's completely free, without any paid tiers, and it doesn't restrict advanced features like ambient occlusion or depth of field unless you upgrade. I haven't been coding games in a while (busy), but recently Unity 5 came out with both a free "lite" and a paid version, which I'm really disappointed about. This time, though, it seems the paid options won't block access to key visual effects like ambient occlusion and depth of field—a positive change. Unreal Engine 4 has been available for some time now and is also free for everyone. The catch with UE4 is a 5% royalty fee, which I accept since it's such a powerful engine. What are we excited about in these two engines? What new features are there? And is Unity 5 really up to par compared to UE4? Let me know your thoughts! Thanks.

I began using Unity 5 and found it very enjoyable. I attempted to switch to Unreal but decided against it. Just explaining why Unity functions well and knowing how to achieve my goals makes me prefer it. Unity is better for me, though it depends on your needs. Please mention if you need help exporting to all platforms—Unity makes it straightforward. Of course, you still have to pay for the PS and Xbox licenses.
