He had more problems than just these. This solves the first issue, the simplest part, though it’s still not ideal.

It's only a small trillion dollar startup. Give them a few more years, this is a good start.

Considered this. Access is restricted as read-only from an NTFS volume. Not capable of reading or writing. Recall https://www.macdrive.com/? OSX now supports NTFS natively as well. Previously it wasn't possible. Note: The tool worked differently on Mac drives under Windows. Edited June 15, 2021 by StDragon

It seems like making a progress bar with the Files app is really tough. File uploads won’t work properly, especially on my iPhone 8 Plus, and the transfers are slow from the start because of the USB 2.0 connection.

MacOS can now access NTFS storage without any special programs. This capability has been available for about two decades.

It has always been a trial feature, though it exists. Likely because the goal is to access files from USB devices rather than internal storage where writing would be useful.

It's not a new trial; it's simply not fully available. Designed to work with both macOS and Windows.

Because Apple may be concerned about damaging an NTFS volume during a write-back process. The best compatible file system for both systems is exFAT, or you can use SMB to share files over a network.

I didn’t really pay much attention, but likely the issue ties to licensing or dependability issues. It’s easy to turn on via a terminal command on macOS, though Apple doesn’t back it up.

Android previously displayed progress mainly for operations with several files at once, showing movement or copying statuses, but not for single-file updates. After Android Pie, this functionality was likely refined to provide more detailed file-level feedback.
