New Ethernet Desk without a network connection.
New Ethernet Desk without a network connection.
Hello everyone, I just bought a new desk to relocate my workspace downstairs. But after moving, I noticed my old desk was still up in my home office, right where the router was placed perfectly. I’m trying to figure out how to improve my internet connection for my new PC setup. Previously, I had about 640mbps download speeds, now it’s around 46mbps. That’s a big difference! It would really help if someone could assist me with this issue. My distance from the router to my new setup is roughly 150-75 feet, though I can’t be sure because I don’t know the exact layout of my walls. Thanks again!
Owning the property suggests drilling a hole in the wall, installing conduit between floors, and securing Ethernet ports. This is the ideal method, though rarely chosen. Another choice is Powerline or phone-line Ethernet, which requires certain assumptions and isn't typically practical. TV coax adaptors are available if needed. Expect speeds under 100mbits unless you invest more in a dedicated conduit run. For higher latency needs, WiFi repeater bulbs can work but are primarily for security systems, not general use.
