include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
Considering you performed an upgrade, we'll need to know what you were working with prior to said upgrade.
On a side note, the B350 chipsets were pseudo-entry level platforms and lacked a proper VRM design. To add, the 1000 and 2000 series processors drew much less power than the 3000 and 5000 series processors. People who were on the B450 chipset with a beefy VRM design were in the clear.
I would advise that you drop your prior processor onto the socket, make sure you're on the latest chipset drivers for your platform, then flash the BIOS to the last version(regardless of it being a Beta version) then clear the CMOS and see if the processor works on the socket.
Hey! Thanks a lot for your prompt response and introduction.
My motherboard is the first one listed (https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4/index.asp).
Unfortunately, this build was previously owned by someone else who didn’t explain the components well, but I’ll do my best to provide any details I can.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six Core (old)
CPU Cooler: Probably a Scythe Kotetsu model
Motherboard: Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming 4K
RAM: 16 GB in two different Viper sticks; exact specs are uncertain, but I should be able to find out if they matter
SSD: Force MP500 and Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus (2TB)
GPU: RTX 4060
PSU: m12ii 620 bronze
Chassis: Not sure about this one, but it seems to be the NZXT CA-S340MB-GR S340 (https://www.exxactcorp.com/NZXT-CA-S340MB-GR-E1242912)
Monitor: Dell S2716DG
I’m not certain about the exact age of the PSU, but my PC health check says the system is about 8 years old. I don’t think it’s changed much since I replaced the GPU and SSD.
Current BIOS version is 7.0; the old one was around 2.0 (I upgraded from 3.0 to 7.0 during updates).
The new processor I’m trying to install is a Ryzen 7 5800 XT.
I ran the chipset updater and saw it had six updates—hopefully those will work next time I have more free time to update. It’ll be roughly a week before that, unfortunately.
Appreciate your assistance in any way!

Bios indicates the current version should be around 7.40, suggesting a minor adjustment needed. Updates reached as of 9/9/25 include several patches and fixes. Version 7.0 serves as a bridge to the Bristol Ridge, while r5 1600 provides an alternative route via Summit Ridge, which avoids the bullet.
Bios 7.40 is available for a 5800X. Use CPU-Z to check your current setup: https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming K4/index.asp#CPU. Restart the system and reinstall the new processor.
