You're asking about the purpose of using the computer. If it's for gaming, then the Ryzen 7 5800X3D performs similarly to the i9 12900K, but you won't need a new motherboard, which can save you money.

I work in animation, video editing, 3D modeling, and gaming. The reason I’m considering a different motherboard is because currently mine only supports one M.2 slot, and I really want to switch to all SSDs for my next project. I’d also like a Type C connection since I’m aiming to get into VR sim racing.

@Primevison Tech jesus shared a video too. The 5800X3D could almost triple the FPS compared to a 3700X, assuming the graphics card isn't the bottleneck. Check the "Best Upgrade Value CPU" part for more details.
