I changed from a 10400f to a 10700f recently and am facing some problems now. At first, the USB ports would intermittently lose power and then reconnect. That’s gone, but now booting takes longer than usual and I received a repair message yesterday. Could be something with the hardware or software causing this? I have a Gigabyte B460M DS3H AC-Y1 motherboard.

Consider adding an extra SATA SSD to your setup, disconnecting the primary drive, and installing a new Windows version on the spare unit. This might resolve the problems. It could simply be unusual behavior from Windows related to CPU swapping. Edited December 7, 2022 by SimplyChunk (spelled out)

Ensure the performance maximizer is removed and reinstalled. Repeat the process for the chipset drivers. This is just how Intel operates.

The performance optimizer is a tool to enhance system speed. Your actions suggest a possible motherboard problem.
