I bought my PC prebuilt with an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 six-core CPU. I was planning to upgrade to something better for about a year until I can replace my motherboard for a Gen 5 Ryzen 7 board. I wasn’t sure what specs the board would support, so I did some research to help. I wanted your advice to double-check things, so here’s my question: my current setup is a B450 Aorus Elite with an AMD Ryzen 5 1600, an RTX 2060, and a DDR4 2x 8GB RAM stick at 1066MHz. I checked if my board can handle the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, but the VRAM info made me doubt it. I noticed many recommendations for the Ryzen 7 3700X but not much about the 7 3800X. My main concern is whether the 3800X would have overheating issues or if the 3900X is a better choice right now. I’m open to technical details, just need a clearer judgment. Thanks for your help!
the b450 aorus elite works decently with a 3700x, but for a 3900x it could likely run a stock version, though i wouldn't go all the way there.
