Uncertain about next steps. Changed the stock Ryzen cooler to a Thermalright Phantom 120, but the power button isn’t working to start the PC. Only the lights on the MB are active, and no fans are running. Need advice.
Re-examine all the cables once more. A typical problem after PC upgrades may occur. Verify each connection is secure and reinsert them if needed.
Next attempt to reposition other parts. Confirm the fan is properly attached to the header, check RAM placement, etc.

I removed the cooler and checked the CPU. It was placed correctly and the cooler was connected properly. The new cooler's fan was linked to the same port as the old one. I'm unsure why the RGB lights are on but the case fan isn't spinning. Would re-seating the RAM help? It seems nothing else changed except the cooler.
Still no success. No fans or power-up.
I reseated the RAM, verified all the MB connections—everything is on and seated. I tried the MB power button after forgetting it last night, but no improvement.
The CPU was still attached to the old cooler, the AMD stock cooler. I removed it, cleaned it thoroughly, and reapplied the thermal paste before installing the new one. It was tough because once the paste was applied it stuck like glue, and I had to redo it after misaligning the mounting screws during installation. I cleaned again and corrected the process for the second time.
Uncertain about next steps—should I reinstall the old cooler and recheck/clean the CPU? Any advice would be appreciated.
More detailed information about the system would be useful. Besides the Ryzen and the cooler, we don't know the other components.

thermalright phantom 120 - system not running since install yesterday.
mainly used for web and serving, 12 hdd connected to another pc in the house. No problems before switching from the stock amd cooler except occasionally overheating around 80°C, which prompted the change.

If the model is ARGB, detach the A/RGB cable from the motherboard.
RGB headers on the motherboard operate at 12V.
The fans on your CPU cooler need 5V ARGB headers.

120 se. Only the components visible on the MB are illuminated, and there are no fans running, not even the case fans. The MB is on, but it doesn't respond to pressing the case power or the MB power button.
It was unusual to notice the CPU was loose when placed in the socket. It was still connected to the old fan, so I took it out, cleaned it, and reinserted it into the socket. Then I began installing the new cooler. From that point on, no further steps were needed as outlined in earlier posts. I’m certain you can understand what I overlooked due to my haste, but I didn’t realize what I missed, even though I thought it would be a straightforward task given the machine’s previous performance.
I removed all the RAM, sound card, Wi-Fi card, and then reconnected the MB and CPU power connections. Still nothing happened—no fans, no post, just the MB RGB lights on. My only option was to take the cooler out again. Doing so resolved the issue; the CPU now fit properly, the cooler was installed, and all peripherals were replaced. I’m back up and running.
My three-day trip to the Land of Dumb has ended.
