Received the old Kraken with only one RAM stick and no GPU. It restarted successfully, displaying the lights/NZXT logo on the cooler. No monitor is connected for the integrated CPU display, but the keyboard plugged in works fine. The CPU indicator remains a solid red Q-LED, indicating it's functioning properly as before.

What I'm referring to in the mount hole is what you described. If the socket has damage that can't be fixed, then the motherboard would likely need to be replaced. It seems like the pins are bent and might be able to be straightened with a small tool or tweezers. You may also require some magnification to properly address the issue.

It might just be that I was playing the MOBA or going through it without the CPU holder on... I’ll check it out. I’m going to try fixing the pins if the bread board doesn’t give any clues. Sadly, if that’s the situation, it’s unfortunate because I always think I’m being careful!

After all the testing, I decided to buy a magnifying glass and tried to realign the pins, as you mentioned they might be bent. I arranged them as best I could next to the others and re-seated everything, which seems to have fixed things for now.

Hopefully this will work well for a while and everything is functioning properly again. Does this ever become an issue in the future with these pins failing over time?

Thanks for your help!

I'm pleased you were able to straighten them and that the PC is now running! Generally, after installation, the CPU's pins should remain straight. Therefore, as long as you don't unsocket the CPU, it's unlikely this will occur again. Continuous bending of identical pins can lead to metal fatigue, significantly raising the likelihood of breakage.

They seemed to have a good hold and were able to move them back into place effectively. Thanks for the feedback!
