New Computer Build - Not Working
No, keeping the button in place doesn't seem to work. There isn't a reset option available. It's unclear how this investment should be handled. Would removing everything from the case help determine functionality? The power switch might be influencing the lack of display.
They're using unusual fasteners, aren't they?
Are standoffs being used at all?
The motherboard has nine screw holes.
You should install nine standoffs inside the PC case in the right spots.
I agree with the person above regarding those unusual screws securing your board. They seem to be using stand-offs to hold it in place. If that’s the situation, you might be creating a short circuit. However, by reviewing the previous posts, you can remove parts and place the motherboard back into its case, adding the PSU, CPU, and RAM, then touch the power switch pins with a screwdriver. If everything fits correctly, the hardware should be fine. You should add components one at a time. If everything functions properly, continue; otherwise, consider replacing something.
Thanks Skynet and Ohio_buckeye. I was quite impressed with your update. Standoffs? Could they already be part of the setup as shown in the photo below? I checked my hardware bags and didn’t find anything matching what’s mentioned in post 12. What I have are a lot of tiny black screws, eight plastic bushings (one might have slipped), and nine steel screws (those were used to mount the MB to the case incorrectly). The small black screws don’t seem long enough for mounting the board onto the case.
Edit:
I removed the motherboard from the chassis, but it was in an anti-static bag and I worked on it outside the case. I connected the power to the MB, and linked the cooling system’s pump and radiator fans. Turned it on (confirming that connecting the two pins of the PWRSW will activate the system), but there’s no display. I expected this.
I added a RAM stick into DIMM_A2 as instructed in the motherboard manual for a single stick. Tried it on and again got no display. Powered off, then swapped the RAM with the second one and tried once more. Still nothing.
Does that mean the memory or the motherboard is finished?
Post 12 outlines the usual requirements. If your issue involves raised spots inside, it might have built-in separations. Some cases include these as well. The key point now is to concentrate on what happens when you attempt to boot with the device connected to the board but without RAM or NVMe installed. You aim for an error message or a beep alert.
You might check if your board supports BIOS flashback and consider updating to the newest BIOS if feasible.
However, in such scenarios it’s likely the motherboard is the issue. Where did you buy it from?
Hi Ohio_buckeye. Thank you all for your ongoing support. Besides the inconvenience of this issue (I've built many PCs before), it's quite a hassle having to travel and search for a replacement part, plus the time spent returning computer components. I'm not sure what the process is like for things like a motherboard with so many parts to collect. I just hope this isn't my next question.
Anyway, I'm getting no response. No beeps. Just a bright motherboard, cooler, GPU, and a black screen on my monitor. This happens whether I use the GPU or the built-in graphics. Do I need a mouse or keyboard connected?
Typically, the board includes a quality list of RAM that has been tested with it. It might be useful to check if your RAM is included there.
I don't find it listed on the ASUS support page for this motherboard. The nearest match is:
CORSAIR CMK64GX5M2B5200C40 Ver 3.43.01
2x 32GB
XMP 5200
DS
Spectek 40-40-40-77
1.25
1,2
It seems the closest option is 5200, not 5600. Could this be the problem?
