I’ve found replacement components for my old platform (B550M DS3H & 4500) that stopped working. I checked the boxes and put everything together to test before fitting it into the case. Except for the RAM, which was fine before, all other parts—PSU, GPU, drive, etc.—came from a functioning system. The board only shows a CPU light now. I’ve updated the BIOS but nothing changed. I’m guessing either the CPU or the motherboard is faulty. I don’t have more parts to examine which one is broken. List of items: Gigabyte GTX1660 Super 6GB Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD Corsair RM550
Both cases seem likely pointing to the board being responsible, especially since hardware issues often stem from that source. It might make sense to also check the CPU, just in case. Your 4500 chip probably survived, but it’s unlikely to be worth much now—3600 models are usually priced under $50. Even if it is still functional, the 4500 isn’t offering much value these days.
Thanks, I'll proceed. My 4500 was given to research. While removing the system, I dropped the CPU because it was stuck to the cooler—it was quite a funny moment and it got several bent pins. Appreciate the help.
Hey, I managed to locate a R3 4100 for testing the faulty components in my build. I didn’t want to send something fine back and lose money. My system can run with the 4100, but after swapping the CPUs, the RAM is causing problems. Clearing the CMOS and installing a new stick seems necessary. Powering down both sticks helps. It looks like the RAM might be the issue—Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 2x8. The 5600x won’t post at all with it, just stays on CPU light. Should I consider getting a different RAM setup? Or is this the root cause? Thanks!
