NEW BUILD PLS HELP!!!!
Discussed upgrades previously and now received all components. Components include MSI MEG UNIFY x570 Ryzen 3900X, AC1200i Corsair power supply, Trident Z Neo 3600MHz dual 16GB RAM, Scythe cooler, NVIDIA 980Ti cooler master H500M. I can upload photos of the build now. However, I’m confident everything is properly connected through the motherboard and PSU. Just plug everything in, connect the PSU to the wall, and nothing should power on except the internal motherboard power switch and the CMOS clear button on the back. I’ve fully unplugged everything and double-checked the setup. I’m shaking, hoping there’s no dead hardware involved.
Connect a metal object to the front power button pins on the motherboard.
A coin or a screwdriver could both be effective depending on the situation.
So here’s what happened since the last update. The PSU caused everything to fail. My friend swapped it in and it worked. I went to Best Buy and got a new EVGA 850 GQ. After installing, I brought it back and it kept shorting itself. I ended up at Best Buy again. Nearby, my buddy called saying the BIOS couldn’t read the SSD anymore. He tried several fixes but nothing helped. Now I’m planning to buy a new SSD and PSU for about $350. My computer is running Windows without a key, and the NVIDIA drivers are really tricky. After checking updates, I downloaded the latest drivers but faced issues. During installation, I saw a stuck black screen instead of the usual one, then it would freeze and restart repeatedly. I had to wait twenty minutes before it finally turned off, then I had to reset it. This caused a loop where the PC restarted itself but kept reporting errors. I’ve been trying to reset and reinstall Windows multiple times, hoping for a graphics driver fix. Today I attempted to download Windows onto a USB drive and reformat it, but it didn’t install properly.
Did you verify the parts outside the enclosure before putting them in? Following standard procedures is ideal. Sometimes it’s just adding a short standoff to connect the motherboard directly. I’d fully disassemble and reassemble it on a test bench (a regular motherboard box will suffice). Are those custom PSU cables from Corsair compatible? Each power supply brand uses different pin configurations.
Device is starting up now and its drivers are functioning properly, handling software tasks smoothly. Browsing the web and downloading files like CPU ID and HWINFO worked without issues. The graphics card driver remained a major hurdle, causing all other functions to fail. It got stuck in a restart loop, required a full PC reset, and then reinstalled Windows. I switched drivers once more but still needed to access the control panel. It indicated a driver from November, prompting another reset. After adjusting some 3D settings, everything seemed normal until I tried the Heaven benchmark and downloaded Origin. Both reported missing MSCV100 DLL errors. I investigated and found Visual C++ wasn’t installed or working correctly, so I attempted a repair, but it didn’t help. I’ve been under pressure for days, with every solution leading to a dead end or obstacle, and I’m confused why a completely new setup without a GPU still doesn’t resolve the problem.
