New build pc briefly powers on before shutting down
Hello there, I recently assembled a PC a few weeks ago for a nephew. This is my second build after my own, and it still functions properly two years later.
It operated normally for about five days before any power-on attempt caused it to flicker briefly and then shut down.
I conducted several tests, including checking the RAM and motherboard without any additional components beyond the essentials. The behavior remained consistent with the original setup.
For the PSU test, I connected the clip to the wall outlet and flipped the switch. The fan spun for a moment before stopping. When I turned it off and then back on, it didn’t spin or perform any action the second time.
Given that the fan did spin initially, does that indicate everything is fine? With newer PSU models, I’m unsure if fans should remain active during startup.
I’d suspect the motherboard issue since I’ve tried swapping RAM sticks and found it still boots, with only a brief light-up before shutting down. Unless both RAM sticks are present but there’s no warning light or beep, I’m not convinced.
