New Build - No Post - Yellow Green Signal from Motherboard
Hello there, I'm assisting my dad with assembling his first computer. We're encountering some problems, which have caused him to become quite anxious because it's a high-end build intended for gaming and CAD work. He reached out to another company in hopes of getting some guidance. Since this forum has previously helped me with similar issues, I thought we might be able to resolve the problem here before taking it to a PC shop for a physical inspection. All components are brand new, purchased during the Black Friday sale, and he's recently managed to assemble everything except the monitor, which is old but still functioning properly.
The system specifications are:
CPU: Intel i9-14900K
CPU cooler: Corsair iCUE H170i ELITE LCD XT
Motherboard: ASUS ProArt Z790-Creator WIFI
Memory: Corsair Vegeance 96 GB 2 x 48 (x2) DDR5-6800
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 GT
GPU: NVIDIA RTX A5000
When powering it on, the fans activate and run, the CPU cooler lights up, the LEDs blink, the motherboard emits a bright yellow glow, and the monitor fails to display. We updated the BIOS for compatibility with the CPU and attempted to apply an older version that was claimed to work with it. We also tried re-seating the RAM or booting with just one stick of RAM to rule out a RAM issue. All wires appear correctly connected. The CPU cooler doesn't seem to affect the RAM.
Edit: We resolved the issue by removing the GPU and M.2 memory, flashing the BIOS again, which allowed the LEDs to cycle and then the system to boot. Once it finally started, it wouldn't detect the keyboard, preventing us from accessing the BIOS. After turning it off, plugging in a new keyboard, and restarting, the system no longer cycles the LEDs and stays on the yellow-green light when powered on.
Have you verified that all connections are secure, similar to how the wires link to the PSU and motherboard? Ensure the big power cable (ATX-24) is properly connected to the motherboard. Also, confirm that the BIOS version is 1203 for compatibility with the 14900k. Refer to this troubleshooting guide for more details.
The cables are properly connected, and the version we're using is now the latest available. Following a technician's suggestion, we removed the storage and GPU parts. After re-flashing the USB, the QLED displayed all colors and the screen lit up. We couldn't access the BIOS because it didn't recognize the keyboard. So we powered it off, then turned it back on with the keyboard connected beforehand. Now it won't post again, but the boot yellow-green LED appears instead of the yellow drive light, and it doesn't boot into BIOS anymore.
Ram is positioned in the 2 to 4th position? If you took away the GPU and storage and it still posted, that might indicate an issue. I suggest checking the components such as storage RAM and GPU to determine if they are faulty.
We currently have RAM only in slot a1. It hasn't posted when we had all sticks available. The only changes have been a reboot of the computer. We attempted to jump the CMOS, but it didn't resolve the issue.
We resolved the problem by connecting the GPU and placing the RAM in the A2 slot. Initially, there were issues running with all four RAM modules, but a soft CMOS reset helped it function properly.
