New Build experiences issues with audio/visual/input glitches, black screen, or complete failure?
Hello everyone, I recently assembled a PC using components that I purchased separately, and set it up with Windows 11. It operated smoothly for some time, but following a power cut it became very slow. The mouse movement appeared extremely laggy and distorted. This issue was completely fixed after a restart.
Later, I moved the PC to another location, where the problem worsened. It would boot slowly, with jittery mouse movements and visual glitches, requiring several restarts before it finally started working properly.
The PC frequently took an unusually long time to boot, sometimes displaying a flashing cursor on a black screen, and at times remaining stuck in that state indefinitely. There was also orange light emanating from part of the motherboard—whether it was an LED or due to overheating remains unclear.
To address these issues, I attempted to update the BIOS, downloaded the necessary file onto a USB stick, and used the Q-Flash option during startup to update it. After that, the PC functioned flawlessly, but after restarting later, the same problems resurfaced. I tried another BIOS update, but now the system freezes endlessly on a black screen when powered on.
Could you please advise what might be causing these problems and how to resolve them?
My specifications are as follows:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Pro B550I AX (used, likely working),
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (no graphics card),
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (used),
- Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 3200, 2x16GB (C16),
- SSD drive: WD black SN850X,
- Power supply: Corsair SF750 Platinum,
- GPU: Sapphire (used, from Galaxus.de),
- BIOS: Installed Windows 11 Superlite from Ghost Spectre.
I did not find the CMOS, as the Gigabyte manual didn’t mention its location, but I inspected the motherboard thoroughly and found no damage.
I installed Windows immediately after the first boot, which might have been an oversight, since I should have verified the BIOS settings.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
You forgot to include the make and model of the PSU. You might want to state where you purchased the discrete GPU from as well. Make and model of your case? Did you try and clear the CMOS?
Where did you source the installer for the OS?
