I've been exploring mesh networking and considering a Deco X20 setup. I'm trying to figure out its coverage in open space without obstacles. If there were walls, how far would the signal reach through a 2-inch thick wood door or a 12-inch thick cement wall? Between two models, what effect does half an inch of tempered frosted glass have on the WiFi signal? And how does the range of a Deco X20 compare to an Archer C5400? This is the Wi-Fi 5 version before the gaming model.

The largest obstacles are typically bricks, concrete, and appliances such as microwaves and ovens. The tempered glass doesn’t block them as much as the sheer distance involved.

I explored Nest WiFi and found it reliable for myself and my family. I’m unfamiliar with the Deco X20, but I’ve had positive experiences with Google/Nest WiFi overall. Most of my family and friends have used it without any problems.
