I own a gaming PC and a PS4 at home. My wife and I enjoy playing games together, so I’ll use my 2015 MacBook Pro while she sits with me in the living room. I stream the game to my laptop, but every couple or three minutes the video drops to around 4 or 5 frames per second and glitches for about five seconds. I’ve already tried several fixes: 1) Updated the router’s firmware. 2) Ran a Wi-Fi analysis to confirm no congestion (checked about 7 feet away on the 5 GHz band, only me on that channel). 3) Tested remote play and Steam on another mobile device via Wi-Fi—no lag spikes. It seems the issue is specific to the MacBook’s Wi-Fi connection. Could OSX’s handling of Wi-Fi cause these spikes? Also, both my PC and PS4 are connected via Ethernet.

I explored further and uncovered a forum where someone was discussing the same issue. They realized that the MacBook’s location services were causing the problem by constantly searching for nearby Wi-Fi networks, which led to lag spikes. Turning off location services resolved everything! Feel free to share the solution if others encounter the same situation.
