I encountered a problem recently where my internet stopped working near the switch leading to the main home router. Two devices are connected—PC and laptop—and I noticed packets dropping randomly, though some small ones still reach me. For example, in-game actions appear real-time, Discord messages come through, but teammates can't hear. I've tried several fixes: changed the switch, bought a new 5-port 1Gbps model, adjusted speeds, updated Windows, and rearranged ports. Should I attempt a factory reset on the router?

You can start by telling us the make/model of the switch(es) and router. I'm assuming this network is all wired. What type of ethernet cable? Have you inspected the cable to ensure there are no sharp bends, insulation stripping/damage, or untwisting of the twisted pairs? Is the cable one that you made yourself?
