my laptop only supports 2.4 wifi, so i tried connecting my mobile with 5ghz and hoped for quicker data transfer. after setting it up, i connected the mobile to the laptop and enabled tethering, but i still couldn’t locate my laptop on the pc through network sharing. when checking the laptop’s ip address, it showed a different one than the router’s dhcp pool and gateway. i attempted to assign a static ip on the ndis adapter, but after that, the connection failed completely. could there be an issue with how the phone is acting as a nat adapter instead of just bridging my network?

Exactly, that's the process of connecting an Android device to another device via a tether.
