The NIC operates independently with its own controller, meaning it doesn't rely solely on the CPU. The CPU's workload for performance needs stays largely the same unless there are changes.

Irrelevant. Only consider it if you require additional interfaces. Avoid occupying mainboard expansion slots that could be better used elsewhere.

This claim isn't accurate. The interaction with the NIC will continue to require CPU power, though it won't exceed the capacity of the built-in NIC.
