I've been working on fixing my Netgear Nighthawk AC1750 (model R6700v2). It keeps overheating, freezing, and then loops back after a reset. I began streaming Destiny 2 on Steam yesterday using the 5GHz band, which is demanding more bandwidth than usual. Download speeds were about 8 MB/s. My troubleshooting suggests this is the problem, but I'd rather avoid throttling my connection. Any other suggestions would be great! Things I've tried that didn't help: updating firmware, connecting to a UPS, enabling QoS, disabling QoS, cleaning dust from the router, contacting Netgear (they seem to require an extended warranty). *extended fart noises* Things that did help: stopping the download and reducing it to around 1.5 MB/s now. TL;DR: A heavy WiFi load causes the router to freeze and loop. After resetting, it keeps restarting. I've tried several fixes but nothing permanent.

Purchase additional heatsinks from sources like eBay, access the router, and add more heatsinks.

Earlier, my router was a DLink DIr835. I updated it to DDWRT and it overheated a lot. I used a laptop cooler plugged into its USB port for cooling. It worked better and ran smoothly.
