Netgear problems with the router and packet loss :(
Open Pingplotter for a while: https://www.pingplotter.com/ Perform two ping tests—one to an internal IP (like the default gateway or router) and one to Google DNS A (8.8.8.8). If the external tests struggle but internal ones succeed, the problem likely lies with your internet connection. If only the gateway tests fail, check your PC’s network card, cable, and router for issues.
I performed multiple ping tests. The 10.1.1.1 serves as the internal gateway, and it appears to be functioning properly. I also tested connectivity to 8.8.8.8 and oce.leagueoflegends.com, and everything seems normal. Currently, all sites are operating well, though I had to reset my router just before sharing this information, which might have been a factor.
I'm currently using ADSL service. I've attempted to update the firmware, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried letting the router update itself and it just stuck on the same version, mentioning a newer one was available. Then I visited the Netgear website, downloaded the update manually, and followed their steps, but the outcome remained the same. What frustrates me even more is that I reached out to Netgear about this problem, but they haven't responded at all.
If I were you, I’d remove this boat anchor. My R7000 began acting up about three weeks ago, with no help from Netgear or forum advice beyond repetitive questions. The problem started suddenly and I assumed it was the NBN, but it kept happening. I called Optus’ support, who were equally baffled. When I checked my router, packet loss fluctuated between 25% and 100%, but they only cared about my IP range. After restarting the sagecom router, the issue vanished and my connection improved significantly. Also, after updating the latest firmware and resetting the R7000, it still behaved the same way. Honestly, this router is one of the worst investments I’ve made. I’m looking for a better option.
