I received a second-hand NightHawk MK62 mesh kit from family some time ago. During its initial use, it worked fine with just a few minor issues. However, this particular model has completely changed the experience. Recently, I upgraded the firewall to version 1.1.7.134 instead of the previous one. The outcome is that pausing internet for individual devices now requires a paid subscription (see screenshot 1 from the app; device names are blurred for privacy). Additionally, it introduced a problem where I can't see which devices are online (as shown in screenshot 2 from the control panel). I’m certain the interface should display all connected devices, including the laptop, satellite unit, phones, and smart speaker mentioned in the first shot. Why only those? The web interface doesn’t show devices that aren’t currently connected. Since I’m not a social media user, I can’t complain publicly there. But if anyone reaches out on Twitter with this info, it would be helpful. Sometimes building awareness is the only way to push a company to fix its mistakes.

Checked their site and found possible clues about a new trial period starting after purchase.

I've been using it since late October 2022. I don't remember the version it was running on when I first got it (it seemed like 1.1.6.xxx). After adopting it, the warranty reset didn't happen, the Netgear Armor (powered by Bitdefender) wasn't reset either, and the 30-day trial didn't reset either. I upgraded to 1.1.7.132 soon after. Until version 132, I could stop connections to certain devices. Now it's part of Netgear's Smart Parental Controls subscription... Which lets me assign groups of devices and cut Wi-Fi access for entire groups! Not just individual devices. Why do companies keep fixing things that aren't broken? They end up breaking them instead.

Netgear provides identical features in their mesh Wi-Fi setup, just like Google does for free.
