Hello everyone, I'm looking for a modem/router with built-in VPN client and server capabilities. The Netgear Nighthawk D7000 seems like a strong option so far. Have you used it before? Do you have any experience setting up VPN on it? Some users reported that the package didn't clearly mention VPN support, even though it was advertised. Since this isn't a budget model, I'd value a real-world opinion from someone who's installed it successfully. Thanks ahead of time!

I doubt a standard router can deliver a solid VPN experience. It’ll likely wait to see if others have tested it. As you mentioned, Netgear appears to only function as a server, not a client, which adds extra strain. Having both roles forces even more demand on the device. Relying on a single combined modem/router restricts your choices, since I usually build a low-power PC and use pfSense instead. That way you’d need a separate modem, which you probably don’t want.

I've already installed pf-sense on a basic computer, but the DGN2200v2 router/modem isn't working as a modem. It won't connect to my ISP. I think I'll need to come up with a solution.
