Netflix Windows 11 interface with SDR content on HDR mode leading to black screen issues.
There’s an unusual Netflix problem on my PC lately. When streaming SDR content through the Netflix Windows app in fullscreen, the interface or subtitles appear and then fade out, causing the screen to go black briefly while the audio stays on. This makes fullscreen viewing with SDR content difficult. Playing HDR content works without issues in windowed mode, and local or YouTube HDR/SDR files (with or without subtitles) are unaffected.
Starting early this year, I purchased a miniLED monitor and began using HDR regularly. Since Windows 11 struggles with HDR content, I enabled HDR in the settings at 100% every time. Before this, I noticed another odd behavior: when I fullscreen a Netflix video, the screen dims slightly before it displays properly. I resolved this by changing my monitor settings on Reddit and setting the non-main display to "Content Type Reported to the Display" → "Desktop Programs."
I’m unsure if this change relates to a recent Netflix update, Windows update, or Nvidia driver update, as the issue has shifted to what I described.
My system specs: i5-13400F, 32GB DDR4 @ 3600MHz, RTX 3080, 10GB RAM, Windows 11 23H2. All updates installed: Nvidia driver 546.33 (previous versions also worked).
Main monitor: INNOCN 27M2V via DisplayPort, 4K 144Hz, 10bit, HDR enabled, G-sync, HDCP 2.2.
Second monitor: ASUS VG259QM via DisplayPort, 1080p 280Hz, 8bit, HDR off, G-sync, HDCP 2.2. Set "Content Type Reported to the Display" to "Desktop Programs."
I’m still trying to figure out if this is linked to a Netflix update, Windows update, or driver change.
